Assignment A (Privilege, Power, and Difference)
In the article “Privilege, Power, and Difference by Allan G. Johnson, the main point is “If I’m going to be part of the solution to that difficult legacy, it’s important to step back from my defensive sensitivity to such language and look at the reality it points to. Then I can understand what it names and what it has to do with me and, most important, what I can do about it.” (Johnston, 14)

The Author
Allan G. Johnson argues that all of us are part of the problem. But we could also
make ourselves part of the solution if only we knew how. Thus, it allows us to
see not only where the trouble comes from, but also how we, as individuals, are
connected to it, which is the only thing that gives us the potential to make a difference.

I also found his quote on page 14 so important. Collective change requires individuals who understand their own privileges and are willing to face discomfort. It is really common for people to feel guilt from things that are out of their control. But the most important part is how you use your privileges to speak up for others.
