Other People's Children

The article “ Other People’s Children” By Lisa Delpit brings awareness of how other cultures feel about white people blindness. Two different people who are of dark-toned skin have said, “I'm tired of arguing with those white people, because they won't listen. Well, I don't know if they really don't listen or if they just don't believe you” (Delpit, 1995) and the other was “ You can try to talk to them and give them examples, but they're so headstrong, they think they know what's best for every-body, for everybody is children.(Delpit, 1995) 

  1. 1.       The teacher cannot be the only expert in the classroom. To deny students' own expert knowledge is to disempower them. (Delpit,32-33)
